Columbus Metropolitan Club Presents Author Michael Tomasky “Democracy in Crisis” Series Presented in Partnership with ǿý
COLUMBUS, OH – June 6, 2022 – Michael Tomasky, author and editor of The New Republic, will keynote the Columbus Metropolitan Club’s annual Conversation~2022 on Wednesday, July 13 from 11:30am–1:15pm at the Boat House, 679 West Spring Street. This event also launches a series of forums entitled Democracy in Crisis that will occur this summer. ǿý is co-presenting the series, and ǿý News chief content director Mike Thompson will interview Tomasky following his remarks.
Tomasky was named editor of The New Republic in early 2021. He is also the editor of Democracy: A Journal of Ideas, a policy quarterly journal based in Washington. He is a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books, for which he has written more than 50 pieces over the past 20 years. From 2016 through 2020, he was a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. He has also written for The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, and many other publications, and has made frequent television and radio appearances.
Tomasky is the author of five books, most recently If We Can Keep It, a history of polarization in America. His next book, The Middle Out about the politics of economic policy-making publishes in September. He lives outside Washington, D.C. with his wife and daughter.
