There鈥檚 been lots of traffic at Bureau of Motor Vehicles offices throughout the state, as Ohioans who hadn鈥檛 renewed their driver鈥檚 license or registrations came in to beat yesterday鈥檚 deadline for the end of the COVID grace period. If you are driving without a license or tags on your car, you can now be cited for it.

Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles registrar Charlie Norman said there are still nearly 91,856 Ohioans who haven鈥檛 come in to renew their licenses and more than 138,385 haven鈥檛 renewed tags for their vehicle as of the close of business yesterday.

鈥淚t鈥檚 certainly a busy week at the BMV. There are longer than average at many of our offices. It kind of depends on where you are,鈥 Norman said.

Norman said there tend to be longer waits around urban areas. Ohioans can reserve their place in line online at some BMV鈥檚 and they can renew their tags online through the BMV鈥檚 website.
