A New Season of 'Concerts @ Ohio State' Coming to Classical 101

Ohio State University

Concerts @ Ohio State, presenting performances by the students and faculty of the , begins a new broadcast season at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7.

These Sunday afternoon programs through March will be devoted to concerts performed in and on Ohio State's campus. Ensembles represented include the Ohio State University , , , ,  and chamber music configurations from duets to small orchestras.

Season highlights include:

  • 's performance of music by the iconoclastic "downtown" composer Julius Eastman
  • A dynamite performance of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Pathetique symphony
  • A glorious all-Liszt piano recital by
  • playing Charles Koechlin's Epitaphe a Jean Harlow
  • Franz Schubert's Winterreise with Stanley Workman and
  • The of Charles Wakefield Cadman's opera Ramala

He is host and producer of Front Row Center – Classical 101’s weekly celebration of Opera and more – as well as Music in Mid-Ohio, Concerts at Ohio State, and the Columbus Symphony broadcast series. He is the regular pre-concert speaker for Columbus Symphony performances in the Ohio Theater.
