Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9 President Brian Steel thinks Franklin County prosecutors may have mishandled a prior criminal case involving Daveonte Dixon. Dixon pleaded guilty in 2024 to multiple felony charges, but was only given community control. Dixon allegedly shot and injured two police officers during a traffic stop Wednesday evening.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office provided an update Thursday into their investigation and search for 21-year-old Daveonte Dixon.

Both of the officers were taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center for treatment. One officer is in critical condition and the other officer is stable.
