Testimony in the trial involving the defamation case former doctor William Husel brought against his ex-employer, Mount Carmel Health System and its parent company Trinity Health, is expected to continue next week in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

Former Mount Carmel doctor William Husel testified Tuesday about what he went through personally during an investigation into accusations that he overprescribed painkillers.

Former doctor William Husel was acquitted of murder in 2022. He is suing his former employer Mount Carmel for defamation.

Former Mount Carmel doctor William Husel's defamation trial against his former employer and its parent company Trinity Health started this week. Opening statements were held Wednesday in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

Jury selection continues Monday to hear a civil case filed by Dr. William Husel, who was acquitted of several counts of murder. He is suing his former employer, Mount Carmel, for defamation in the suit.

Former Mount Carmel doctor William Husel filed a defamation suit against Mount Carmel and its parent company after he was acquitted of 14 murder charges for patient deaths.

The suit claimed Michigan-based company Trinity purposely provided wrong information to prosecutors and the media before William Husel was indicted on 25 charges of murder in 2019.

Rob Landy, the attorney representing Dr. William Husel in a $20 million malicious prosecution lawsuit, said Husel is trying to get his name and his life back.

Husel, who was acquitted of intentional murder charges stemming from the prescription of drugs to patients while at the hospital, is seeking $20 million in damages.

Attorney Gerald Leeseberg, who represented the plaintiffs, confirmed the final cases have been settled after 9 cases were previously resolved.
